Best Apps to Check Your Credit Score

Checking your credit score regularly helps you catch errors, prevent fraud, and track your progress. Today there are several apps that make this easy, many of them free.

Free options

  • Credit Karma: shows your VantageScore using Equifax and TransUnion data, free, available on Android and iOS.
  • Experian: Experian's official app gives you your score and change alerts, also free.

Paid option

  • myFICO: FICO's official app; with a subscription it gives you your FICO scores from Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian — the model lenders use most.

Tips for using them

Review your score at least once a month and compare the information across bureaus, since they can differ. If you spot an error or an account you don't recognize, report it immediately to the relevant bureau.

Checking your own score is a "soft inquiry" and does not affect your credit — do it as often as you need.
